What You Can Do

Pick your paper

A4, A5, A3, Letter, Legal or Tabloid, in portrait or landscape.

Go full bleed

Turn margins off for designs that reach the edge of the page, or keep a half-inch margin.

Keep backgrounds

Include colors and background images, which browser printing often drops by default.

Run page scripts

Let JavaScript run first, so charts and generated content appear in the PDF.

Respect print CSS

@page rules and @media print styles are honoured, so your stylesheet stays in charge.

Keep local files local

Internal reports and client pages are rendered on your computer, not on a web service.

What It Doesn't Do

Chrome's Print to PDF is free and good for a single page. Here is what to expect from FileHop.

  • Margins are on or off. You can't enter custom margin values in the dialog, but your own @page CSS still applies.
  • It converts HTML files on your computer. It isn't a tool for capturing live URLs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Print to PDF in Chrome?

Chrome works well for a single page. FileHop keeps the export next to your files, offers paper, background and script options in one dialog, and lets you continue with PDF tools straight after.

Does JavaScript run before export?

It can. Turn on the option to run page scripts so that generated charts and content are included.

Can I make a full-bleed PDF?

Yes. Turn margins off and the page can reach the paper edge.

Which paper sizes are available?

A4, A5, A3, Letter, Legal and Tabloid, each in portrait or landscape.

Does FileHop add a watermark?

No.

Are @page and print styles used?

Yes. Both are honoured.

Is my HTML uploaded?

No. Rendering happens on your computer using your system's web engine.

Does it work on Windows?

Yes. FileHop uses WebKit on Mac and WebView2 on Windows.
